The much anticipated Supreme Court opinion in King vs Burwell has been announced. The Supreme Court upheld a key funding mechanism of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
This ruling will allow for premium subsidy tax credits to continue to be distributed through both federally facilitated and state-based exchanges. Wisconsin is one of 34 states which does not operate a state-based exchange. As a result of today’s ruling WI residents who rely on tax credit subsidies to afford the required health insurance will continue to receive them.
