Course Description
This claim-based educational program begins with an overview of the current dental malpractice environment, including issues specific to the state of Wisconsin. We also discuss the main risk management issues related to dental malpractice including informed consent, patient and team communication, follow-up system failures, jousting, patient selection and adverse outcome disclosure.

OSHA and Infection Control in the Post-Pandemic Era

Course Description
The course will provide a review of the impact COVID-19 has had on dentistry by presenting updated OSHA regulations and current CDC infection control guidance for dental healthcare, including strategies for best practices to ensure the health and safety of team members and patients. The course will provide the rationale for compliance through an evidence-based approach consisting of literature and current events on prevalent risks associated with the delivery of dental care in the post-pandemic era. The course fulfills the infection control continuing education requirement for Wisconsin licensure.

Course Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the role of OSHA in promoting dental healthcare provider safety in a post-pandemic era.
  • Understand and implement current CDC guidelines to reduce the risk of respiratory disease transmission in dental settings.
