Please plan on joining us for the MedPro Risk Management Seminar
Our annual Dental Risk Management seminar will take place on Friday, September 26, 2025. This year’s dental seminar topic will be: Medical Emergencies and Conditions in (and After) the Dental Office, and Their Role in Dental Malpractice Claims and will be presented by Marc Leffler, DDS, ESQ.
This presentation begins with a brief background overview of concepts of dental malpractice and lack of informed consent, with an emphasis on applicable Wisconsin laws, and then shifts into the clinical realm to apply dental and medical patient conditions and events that occur in conjunction with and following common dental office procedures. Case examples that include medical emergencies and conditions, such as bleeding, hypertension, allergic reactions, seizure, diabetes, myocardial infarction, and pseudomembranous colitis, will be explored in the context of dental malpractice litigation. Throughout the presentation, emphasis will be placed on risk management techniques to lessen the likelihood of untoward events, and to manage them when they occur. There will be opportunities for a participant question and answer period, as well as mock cross-examination.
After Dr. Marc Leffler’s presentation, Ellison Hitt, Esq., of Siesennop & Sullivan LLP, will give a short presentation on legal trends and a DSPS update. Ellison defends claims against professional healthcare providers, including dentists, doctors, nurses, nursing homes, and other long-term care facilities in malpractice claims and in matters pending before professional licensing boards. She graduated from Miami University of Ohio, B.A. and Marquette Law School, JD. For the past few years, Ellison has represented all of Professional Insurance Programs insured dentists in Wisconsin malpractice cases.
