Applying for Health Insurance? Pay Attention to these Important Items!

It’s here – it is 2014 and the ACA is charging full speed ahead. Despite media controversy, many aspects of the law are in effect and people are discovering what their health insurance options are in the new year.

As always, we want to reiterate that purchasing health insurance outside of the government run marketplace is always an option. As an independent insurance agency, Professional Insurance Programs can offer you group or individual health insurance options with multiple carriers.

With all of the changes in the health insurance market many people are wisely shopping their insurance options. With the volume of people applying for coverage at this time – it is extremely important to be mindful of processing deadlines.

If you are looking for health insurance coverage, for a 1st of the month effective date all of your applications and necessary paperwork must be received in our office before the 10th of the month prior. i.e. If you would like your coverage effective March 1st – your applications must be submitted by February 10th.

Insurance companies are experiencing an extremely high volume of applications and to make sure you have the coverage and materials you need, it is important to pay attention to the cut off dates.

<i>Also, if you applying for individual health insurance coverage, new IRS regulations mandate that you may only use a personal account. Business accounts may not be used to purchase individual policies unless you are a sole proprietor.</i>

<b>Lastly, please note that if you have a Medicare supplement policy your coverage remains unchanged at this time.</b>
